Modulation of multiple photon energies

چکیده
A form of optical modulation at low pulse rates is reported in the case of surface plasmons excited by 1.55-mm photons in a thin gold foil. Several visible-photon energies are shown to be pulsed by the action of the infrared pulses, the effect being maximized when each visible beam also excites surface plasmons. The infrared surface plasmons are implicated as the primary cause of thermally induced changes in the foil. The thermal effects dissipate in sufficiently small times so that operation up to the kilohertz range in pulse repetition frequency is obtained. Unlike direct photothermal phenomena, no phase change is necessary for the effect to be observed. © 2005 Optical Society of America OCIS codes: 240.6680, 140.6810, 240.0310.

Dosimetric Study of Tissue Heterogeneity Correction for Breast Conformal Radiotherapy
Introduction: Heterogeneity correction is an important parameter in dose calculation for cancer patients where it may be cause inaccuracy in dose calculation as a result of different densities of patients. This study studied the impact of dose calculation of breast cancer patients with and without heterogeneity correction. Material and Methods: Twenty breast cancer patients were treated with Th...
متن کاملHighly efficient multiple exciton generation in colloidal PbSe and PbS quantum dots.
We report ultra-efficient multiple exciton generation (MEG) for single photon absorption in colloidal PbSe and PbS quantum dots (QDs). We employ transient absorption spectroscopy and present measurement data acquired for both intraband as well as interband probe energies. Quantum yields of 300% indicate the creation, on average, of three excitons per absorbed photon for PbSe QDs at photon energ...

Objective(s): In this study we evaluate the impact of the different aspects of Gold Nano-Particles (GNPs) on the target absorptive Dose Enhancement Factor (DEF) during external targeted radiotherapy with photon beams ranging from kilovolt to megavolt energies using Monte Carlo simulation. Methods: We have simulated the interaction of photon beams wi...
متن کاملCalculating Weighting Factors for Mixing Megavoltage Photon Beams to Achieve Desirable Dose Distribution in Radiotherapy
Background: In radiotherapy, low-energy photon beams are better adapted to the treated volume, and the use of high-energy beams can reduce hot spots in the radiation therapy. Therefore, mixing low and high energies with different ratios can control the rate of hotspots, as well as the dose distribution of the target volume.Material and Methods: The percentage depth doses (PDDs) were calculated ...
